With contexts in version 2, you could sort tasks by an automatic method, but making manual adjustments was impossible. Second, manual sorting is now possible within tags. First, multiple tags can be assigned to a task, which was not previously possible with contexts. They still do mostly the same thing as before, but with a mere rebranding I’m now much more okay with them.Īs I said, tags are mostly the same, with a few exceptions. Tags, however, are a common organization method in other apps, and using them optionally, as best suits your needs, feels perfectly acceptable in OmniFocus 3. I’m guessing I’m not the only user to feel that way. In OmniFocus 2 I never used contexts the way they were intended, and as such it always felt like I was missing out on the way the app was supposed to be used. OmniFocus 3 replaces contexts with tags, which are mostly identical in function, but even with just a name change, they now feel much more modern and less a fundamental part of how the app works. Gone are the days of contexts – a carry-over from David Allen’s Getting Things Done methodology. In that vein, many of OmniFocus 3’s biggest features focus on enabling the app to morph to your needs. The more flexible a task management system, the more likely it will work for a broad base of users. Outside of a lovely new design, where icons and fonts are bolder and everything feels more fresh, my favorite changes in OmniFocus 3 are this increased flexibility, which encompasses a lot of new and updated features, and its excellent iPad improvements. In more ways than ever before, OmniFocus provides the tools to make the app your own. This improved user friendliness is achieved thanks to a new level of flexibility that can, upon tweaking your ideal setup, obscure the app’s complexity in everyday use. OmniFocus 3, released today for iOS (and later coming to the Mac), adds even more power and options to the app’s existing toolset, yet rather than growing more complex in the process, it’s surprisingly become more approachable. On this complexity spectrum, OmniFocus has historically been the poster child for the weightier end: if you have a lot of complicated projects that need a high degree of structure, there’s no better place to start than OmniFocus however, for lighter needs, I’ve always found its myriad of options too overwhelming to recommend. Some aim to remain simple and user-friendly, while others try to put every tool at your disposal, endearing themselves to power users while scaring off prospective customers who need a bit less. Task management is a tough problem to solve, because every option out there is optimized for specific use cases, resulting in different complexity levels. Realistically though, you’ve resigned yourself to the fact that the “perfect task manager” doesn’t exist, and likely never will. You may have chosen an app and settled in with it, but some of its design choices don’t quite fit with your way of working, so you’re always keen to try the latest and greatest app that comes along. If you’re anything like me, you probably remain perpetually dissatisfied with your task management setup.

The ingredients in this cake can be used in a variety of dishes, including pancakes, waffles, muffins, fruit crumbles and crisps, and more.Ĭan I Use Instant Oats Instead Of Breadcrumbs? It is a healthy alternative to all-purpose flour that is simple to make at home. Gluten-free cooking has grown in popularity in recent years, and oat flour is a great choice. Oat flour is beneficial for weight loss because it can help you feel fuller for longer and stay healthy. Flour has fewer saturated fats than oat and is a good source of calcium. Oats are a great source of vitamin B6, as well as thiamine, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, and pantothenic acid. Oat flour is an excellent source of fiber, protein, and nutrients for your diet. Oat crops have a high cross contamination rate and contain gluten, which can be harmful for allergy sufferers. When using more than one cup, leavening the oats to reduce their density is recommended. When replacing flour with oats, avoid adding any extra sugar because oats naturally have a sweeter flavor. The cookies dried out and crumbly if you used no flour at all. Whole rolled oats can replace up to 50% of the flour in a recipe for cookies. The health benefits of rolled oats have long been recognized. Oat fiber, in addition to being a whole grain, has low cholesterol and is low in sodium. You can use rolled oats in most recipes that call for flour, though you may need to experiment a bit to get the right proportions. Just grind them up in a blender or food processor until they’re a fine powder. The oats set the burgers more tender and less crumbly while baking, making them more tender and less crumbly. Oat fibers bind to meat, vegetables, and spices after they have been exposed to moisture. Whole grains have many nutrients, including B vitamins, iron, and fiber, but oats are high in fiber and healthy carbohydrates. Instead of using salt- laden bread crumbs, use rolled oats with a little seasoning. Because it is cut too fine, it should not be used in baking. When baking, it is possible to substitute oats for up to one-third the amount of flour required, depending on which brand of oats you prefer. Despite their shortcomings as a crispy coating, they add the necessary amount of texture to bind meats, eggs, and flavorings together, resulting in a tasty Italian-inspired feast. If you want to substitute breadcrumbs for meatballs or other foods, oats are a great option. (Use this only as a substitute for bread crumbs in meat loaf and other meat mixtures.) In baked goods or casserole toppings, oats do not crisp up quite as well. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 minutes on a greased baking sheet. To make four 5-ounce chicken breasts, combine 1 1/2 cups of oatmeal with 4 ounces of chicken. Finer flakes adhere better during breading, resist overbrowning and burning more easily than whole flakes, and can be used for breading. When using oatmeal measure instead of measure, puree or grind it in a food processor or blender to get a coarse texture. Other hearty dishes, such as turkey vinders, can be served with oatmeal in place of pan-fried or baked breaded items. When looking for a binder or to coat, oatmeal provides a healthier alternative to breadcrumbs. Then use them as you would any other type of breadcrumb, whether it’s for coating chicken or fish before baking, or for topping a casserole or pasta dish. To use rolled oats for breadcrumbs, simply pulse them in a food processor until they’re coarsely ground. They’re high in fiber and protein, and they have a slightly nutty flavor that pairs well with many different dishes. If you’re looking for a healthier alternative to breadcrumbs, rolled oats are a great option. Įvolution has given birds a far more elaborate sound mechanism than it’s given humans. The syrinx is surrounded by an air sac, and the combination works like a resonating chamber to maintain or amplify sound. Birds produce song in a structure called the syrinx, located at the bottom of the windpipe where the bronchial tubes diverge to the lungs. Unlike the human voice, which comes from the larynx way up at the top of the windpipe, a bird’s song comes from deep within its body. McVie wrote 'Songbird' in half an hour around midnight, but didnt have anyone around to record it. The answer lies in the songbird’s vocal anatomy. How can a bird like a Carolina Wren, all of 5½ inches long and weighing only as much as four nickels, produce so much sound? Wrens aren’t the only small birds with big voices, but they are the best known for this ability. Songbird song from the album Acoustic: The Collection is released on Feb 1977. The the VIP Night Tour is the perfect intro to the party scene The resulting files are the absolute highest quality you'll ever get out of the camera. It also recognizes Canon's full range 8 bit YCbCr values (0-255), avoiding clipping and the resulting loss of picture information. 5DtoRGB bypasses QuickTime decoding altogether, works internally at 10 bits and uses your video card's GPU for its YCbCr to RGB conversion. For an example of the results, click here.ĥDtoRGB takes a no-compromise approach to quality. Each one of them uses QuickTime to decompress H.264. You're stuck with it if you've converted your footage with Final Cut Pro, Compressor, MPEG Streamclip or Canon's E1 "Log and Transfer" plugin for Final Cut Pro. And guess what? There's no way to disable this. To add insult to injury, QuickTime adds noise to its H.264 output (and so does any program that uses QuickTime to decompress H.264) in what appears to be an attempt to cover up H.264 compression artifacts. While this may be just fine for general activities like watching videos, it is unsuitable for professional post-production tasks. Many programs use QuickTime internally to decode H.264 and perform the necessary YCbCr to RGB conversion, but its decoder is intended for general purpose use and not critical post-production use. The big problem is that you have to trust your NLE or compositing app to do a good job of performing this YCbCr to RGB conversion. Furthermore, visual effects compositing programs like After Effects or Nuke work with RGB color (not YCbCr, which is common in HDSLRs), and so a YCbCr to RGB conversion must be performed by either QuickTime or your compositing program before anything useful can be done. Uncompressed formats like DPX are useful for visual effects creation (like pulling mattes from green screen footage), as uncompressed files retain the most image quality. Transcoding to formats like Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD offer performance improvements during editing and keep compatibility with other editing systems in a collaborative environment. In short, it'll make your footage look just plain amazing!ĥDtoRGB is designed to transcode your footage to a format suitable for editing or visual effects purposes. By using a very high quality conversion process, 5DtoRGB gets you as close as possible to the original data off the camera's sensor while putting the brakes on any additional quality loss. Because of this compression, the picture is at risk of massive quality loss during the post production pipeline. Cameras like the Canon EOS series of HDSLRs record video in this format with subsampled color. Professional Transcoding with Consistent ColorĥDtoRGB is an awesome tool that extracts every last drop of video quality from cameras that record to the AVC/H.264 video format.

If it is not capable then it is likely to result in the cable becoming hot and potentially catching fire. The following are some points you should consider when selecting cable for a particular application:Įach component or appliance connected to a circuit will have a current draw associated with its operation and it is important that the cable supplying power to these is capable of carrying the normally expected current, plus a margin of safety. This is the resistance of the conductor expressed in Ohms per metre ( W/m) and is important when determining voltage drop (see below)Īdditional specifications may include a working temperature range and resistance to certain chemicals such as acids, fuels, oils etc. This is the diameter including the insulation and usually expressed in mm. So 28/0.30 means that there are 28 strands, each with a diameter of 0.30mmĮxpressed in Amperes (Amps or A) and is the maximum continuous or 'working' current that the cable can safely carry. This can often lead to confusion so just remember that the main specification for a cable will be its conductor's cross-sectional area and cable will never be referred to by its diameter alone.Įxpressed as the number of conductors of a given diameter. You will sometimes see cable described as 1mm or 2mm cable without the ² sign but it is important to note that this does not mean the diameter of the cable. The same applies when crimping the conductor to a terminal - make sure all strands are contained within the crimp or the current carrying capacity will be reduced.Ĭables are generally specified using the following properties: PropertyĮxpressed in mm² and describes the tota l cross sectional area of the copper conductor. This will reduce the total cross-sectional area of the conductor at that point and consequently also reduce the current carrying capacity of the cable. Tip : Be careful when stripping the insulation from a stranded cable that you don't accidentally remove any of the copper strands. The difference in cross sections is shown in the diagram below: This type of cable is (unsurprisingly) known as 'stranded' cable and provides much more flexibility, which means improved resistance to work hardening making it better suited to use in vehicles. This problem is overcome by manufacturing the core from many small diameter strands of copper wire to make up the desired cross-sectional area, rather than using a single wire. This work hardening causes the metal to become more brittle which could, over a long period of time, cause a stiff, solid conductor to crack and fail. The reason for this is that copper, although quite ductile, is susceptible to 'work hardening' when subject to vibration and mechanical shock, such as is experienced when installed in a vehicle. LED equivalents to metal halide lighting offer similar energy savings as over sodium lighting – around 50%.You will have noticed that cable used in vehicle electrical systems is very flexible in contrast to the cable you would find in the the walls of your home, which is fairly stiff. Either way, LED lighting is around 50% more efficient than both HPS and LPS lighting. LPS are more efficient than HPS but emit a very dim, yellow light. Sodium lights can be high pressure sodium (HPS) or low pressure sodium (LPS). LED tube lights use between 40 and 50% less energy than fluorescent tube lights, which is of course comparable to CFLs that utilise the same technology. LED equivalents to fluorescent tube lights LED light bulbs take energy efficiency to another level, using around 40% less energy than CFL equivalents. Halogen Light Bulb WattageĬFL (compact fluorescent lamp) light bulbs were the first real energy-efficient alternative to incandescent and halogen bulbs, using much less energy and lasting for much longer. Halogen light bulbs are more efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs, but still require much more energy to generate light than LEDs, which use around 85% less energy than halogen bulbs. Incandescent light bulbs are the least energy-efficient light source, with LED light bulbs using just 10% of the energy to produce the same amount of light as their incandescent equivalents. LED equivalents to traditional incandescent light bulbs That being said, you can use the comparison charts below as a starting point to finding out the LED equivalents for the light source you are shopping for. When comparing different light bulbs and lamps, it is better to compare the lumens that each bulb produces, in order to gain a true like-for-like comparison. LED equivalent wattages to traditional light sources can only be approximate, as they will vary depending on the colour temperature and quality of the bulbs being compared.
